OuterSignal secured a $22 million Series A, co-led by Long Journey Ventures and Abstract Ventures, to scale its AI platform that enriches customer data for true one to one personalization across consumer brands.
OuterSignal’s $22M Series A accelerates its agentic customer intelligence platform that enriches e-commerce and CRM data with public context to enable true 1:1 personalization for consumer brands.
The Series A was co-led by Long Journey Ventures and Abstract Ventures. Participants include BAM Ventures, Top Shelf Ventures, SuperAngel.Fund, Jerry Yang’s AME Cloud Ventures, OpenSky, and Family Fund. A large group of angels and customer executives also joined, among them Dave Heath, Rohan Shah, Alex Haro, Emery Wells, Kim Perell, Michael Preysman, Michael Perry, Ken Nguyen, Raad Mobrem, Zach Sims, Sahil Bloom, Steve Carroll, Michael Loeb, Rich Vogel, Troy Ossinoff, Sahil Bhaiwala, James Beshara, and Nik Sharma.
The company launched in January 2026 and rapidly scaled to thousands of consumer businesses processing hundreds of millions of orders. Prior activity included a smaller early stage/seed raise of roughly $2.2M around June 2026 and the May 2026 acquisition of Monocle, an AI powered lifecycle marketing platform focused on autonomous 1:1 journeys across email, SMS, and web. That deal advanced OuterSignal’s full stack agentic personalization vision by pairing customer intelligence with downstream execution agents.
Headquarters is in New York. Co-founders are Zach Zelner (CEO; serial operator who previously built and sold companies including PupSocks and ThreadStudio) and Noah Friedman (President; consumer investor/operator who also runs Top Shelf Ventures). Team size has grown from a handful of people at launch to around 25.

How OuterSignal works?
OuterSignal connects to a brand’s commerce platform or CRM and builds rich individual profiles by combining transaction data with public signals (age, occupation, education, property value, family status, interests, hobbies, social following, and more). Identity resolution runs dynamically and in real time as orders arrive, with claimed high match rates.
Core capabilities include:
- Instant VIP and influencer detection (flagging creators, athletes, executives, celebrities, and retail buyers the moment they purchase, with alerts).
- Persona generation and deep analytics (AI derived segments with demographic, psychographic, and behavioral attributes).
- Precision segmentation and activation (export to Meta Ads, Klaviyo, other CRMs, or direct mail platforms; lookalike audiences).
- Agentic personalization (agents that generate individualized messages, flows, and campaigns at scale rather than broad rules based segments).
The platform addresses a core industry gap: brands often treat customers as order records and send generic emails, product recommendations, and ads despite heavy AI investment. OuterSignal aims to restore “know your customer” depth that ad platforms and privacy changes have eroded.
Use cases span influencer/partnership teams (outreach to existing customers who are already creators), lifecycle marketing (persona specific flows), acquisition (precise media audiences), and product/merchandising (understanding who buys each SKU/category). It also surfaces B2B opportunities hidden in DTC order data (e.g., retail buyers or Fortune 500 executives purchasing personally).
Notable customers include AG1, HexClad, Jones Road Beauty, True Classic, Jomashop, Lucy, Gratsi, Magic Mind, Mizzen+Main, and others. Reported results cited by the company and customers include:
- 20x+ ROAS and $50 AOV lift on direct mail campaigns targeting executive personas (Mizzen+Main).
- +47.2% revenue and +54.1% click rate on persona based email vs. standard flows (Gratsi).
- +412% sales lift versus average Meta audiences in a multi month test (Jolie).
- Discovery of high value creators already in the customer base, enabling authentic influencer partnerships (HexClad, AG1, Jones Road Beauty).

How will OuterSignal use the funds?
Proceeds primarily fund deepening the research/intelligence engine, advancing person level message generation (a unique version of every message for every customer), and scaling the team across engineering, go to market, operations, and customer experience. Hiring is underway in New York and remotely across the U.S. The explicit goal is agentic personalization, software that understands each individual and autonomously drives relevant experiences across potentially billions of touchpoints without heavy manual segmentation.
Consumer brands face intense pressure to improve retention, acquisition efficiency, and personalization amid rising ad costs, privacy restrictions (e.g., reduced third party data), and generative AI’s ability to produce content at scale. Many still operate with coarse segmentation. OuterSignal positions customer context as the critical missing layer that makes AI marketing effective: generative systems can create infinite variants, but only deep individual understanding makes them relevant.
The Monocle acquisition strengthens the stack by adding autonomous journey orchestration on top of intelligence. Competitive differentiation centers on e-commerce native identity resolution from order data plus public signals, real time VIP detection, and exportable personas, rather than generic CDPs or pure generative marketing tools.
Investor commentary highlights the combination of product differentiation, rapid customer adoption, and operator-founder DNA. Abstract Ventures’ Ramtin Naimi described it as unlocking a new paradigm for agentic personalization with remarkable growth. Long Journey Ventures’ Lee Jacobs called the technology rare and the company’s speed exceptional. Customer executives (HexClad, AG1, Jones Road Beauty, True Classic, Mizzen+Main, and others) emphasize clearer customer understanding, unexpected influencer discovery, and measurable lifts in ROAS, revenue, and partnership quality.
The round’s broad participation by angels who are themselves operators and current customers signals strong product market fit and network effects within the consumer brand community. Launch to Series A trajectory in under nine months, thousands of brands, and hundreds of millions of orders processed indicate aggressive early traction in a high attention category.
The $22M Series A positions OuterSignal to scale its research engine and agentic capabilities while expanding distribution, aiming to make individualized, context aware personalization standard infrastructure for consumer brands rather than an exception.
