Takt Raises $9.25 Million In Series A Funding Round

Takt, a Reston, Virginia-based warehouse labor management and intelligence platform, raised $9.25 million in Series A financing led by Ballast Point Partners. This marks the company’s first institutional round.

What is Takt.io?

Founded in 2021 by Glynn LoPresti (Co-Founder & CEO), Alex Rhea (Co-Founder & CTO), and Noah MacMichael (Co-Founder & CPO), Takt unifies labor, automation, and robotics data into a single operating model for distribution centers. The platform integrates with warehouse management systems (WMS), time clocks, robotics, material handling controls, and homegrown applications. It measures activity continuously against engineered labor standards, enabling real time labor planning, performance goal setting and incentives, employee coaching, gamification, indirect time tracking (including kitting, value added services, and management utilization), cost visibility, and AI driven insights via TaktAI.

The company supports more than 100 warehouses across North America and international markets, serving Fortune 500 retailers, global brands, e-commerce companies, and major third party logistics providers (3PLs). It has added more warehouse sites in 2026 than in any prior year.

Customer results include:

  • Kenco (a major North American 3PL) has deployed Takt across 19 distribution centers and plans to expand to another 30. At one consumer packaged goods facility, average cost per pallet fell 15%, equating to $229,000 in annual savings.
  • ODW Logistics replaced a legacy labor management system with Takt and reported a 29% improvement in workforce performance and a 39% increase in employee retention.

Use of proceeds centers on product expansion and geographic growth. Funds will support broader integrations with tier-one WMS, robotics, and material handling systems; expansion into order orchestration, resource scheduling, and engineering tools; and development of TaktAI agents that shift from explanatory insights to autonomous action, rebalancing labor against live order profiles within supervisor defined bounds. The company will also continue expanding in the United Kingdom, European Union, and Asia-Pacific.

Ballast Point Partners, a Tampa, Florida-based later stage venture capital and growth equity firm founded in 2002 (with roots around 2001), manages more than $550 million across four funds. It focuses on software, technology enabled business services, and healthcare, with typical initial equity investments of $5–15 million, and emphasizes minority stakes and partnership with management teams, particularly in the Southeast and Texas. Sean Barkman, a Partner at the firm, is joining Takt’s Board of Directors. Barkman highlighted the rapid multi site expansion at customers like Kenco as evidence of product market fit in an industry where warehouses have rapidly adopted automation (goods to person systems, autonomous mobile robots, sortation, voice) while measurement and coordination tools lagged.

Market context: Modern distribution centers generate fragmented data streams from labor systems, automation, robotics, and WMS. Supervisors often reconstruct shift performance manually after the fact. Takt addresses this as a modeling gap rather than a pure reporting gap by treating people, robots, and equipment as a unified operation. This positions the platform at the intersection of labor management systems (LMS) modernization and the broader push for real time warehouse orchestration amid rising automation investment, labor challenges, and cost to serve pressures in retail, e-commerce, and 3PL environments.

The round provides growth capital for an established but still early stage SaaS provider transitioning from proven multi site deployments toward deeper AI enabled execution capabilities and international scale.
